The National Disability Insurance Scheme can feel like a lot to take in: acronyms, portals, plan categories. This page is the plain-language version: what it is, what it covers, and how it works if you're getting started with Henari.
What is the NDIS?
The NDIS is the way the Australian Government funds support for people with permanent and significant disability. If you're eligible, your plan gives you funding to pay for supports that help you live more independently at home, in your community, or working toward personal goals.
What can NDIS funding be used for?
Depending on your plan, funding can go toward:
Help at home
Personal care, meal preparation and domestic assistance.
Getting out and about
Community participation and transport to appointments and activities.
Overnight or respite support
Support coordination
Help to make the most of your plan.
Equipment, therapies and other supports
Supports listed in your plan.
