What to Expect from Henari
Starting with a new support provider can come with a lot of questions.
Who will support me? What happens first? Can I tell you how I want my support delivered? What if something isn't working?
At Henari Support Services, we want the process to be clear and centred around you.
Support built around your independence.
1. Start with a conversation
You don't need to know exactly what support you need before contacting us.
Tell us about yourself, what you're looking for and what you'd like support to help you achieve.
We can talk about:
your goals and priorities
the type of support you're looking for
when and where you need support
your preferences
any important cultural or communication considerations
questions you have about Henari.
The first conversation is also your opportunity to decide whether Henari feels right for you.
2. We learn what matters to you
Good support isn't just about completing tasks.
We want to understand how you prefer to live your life and what independence means to you.
That could mean support with everyday activities, getting out into the community, travelling somewhere important to you, maintaining your home and yard, or working towards something new.
Your support should reflect your goals, choices and circumstances.
3. We discuss your support
Once we understand what you're looking for, we'll discuss how Henari may be able to support you.
This can include practical details such as:
the support you require
preferred days and times
where support will take place
how you prefer to communicate
your routines and preferences
any relevant support requirements.
If Henari isn't the right service for what you need, we'll be clear about that.
4. We agree on how your support will work
Before regular supports begin, the important details should be clear.
Depending on the support being provided, this may include discussing your service arrangements, responsibilities, schedule and other information relevant to delivering your support.
You should have the opportunity to ask questions before agreeing to anything.
If something isn't clear, ask us.
5. Getting ready for your first support
Meeting a new support worker or starting a new service can feel unfamiliar.
Your first support is an opportunity to get comfortable, talk through your preferences and begin establishing how you want to work together.
You don't need to have everything figured out on the first day.
Preparing for your first support?
Read our Preparing for Your First Support Session guide for practical information about what you can expect.
6. Your choices continue after support starts
Starting support doesn't mean everything is permanently fixed.
Your circumstances, preferences and goals can change.
If something could work better, talk with us.
We want to know:
what's working well
what isn't working
whether your needs have changed
whether you would like something done differently
whether your goals or priorities have changed.
Support should continue to work around your life.
7. You can speak up
You have the right to ask questions, give feedback and raise concerns about your support.
Speaking up helps us understand what matters to you and where something may need to change.
You can speak with Henari directly, and you can have someone you trust help you if you prefer.
